08 May Chanel Resort Collection Pre-Spring/ Summer 2016
Karl Lagerfeld sailed his collection to Seoul. Café culture was very much a yesterday thing and K-pop is today’s thing. The fun, colourful collection was presented in the Dongdaemum Design Plaza space designed by the talented Zaha Hadid. Karl usually draws his inspiration from Chanel’s heritage, however he infused the new with old. He used the traditional Korean handbook styles with the Chanel patchwork, layering, knit and flowers. The models hair were thick with large braids giving us the sci-fi vibe but keeping the historical tradition. The makeup was kept minimal with only a small dot of makeup under the eye, keeping a youthful and edgy look. The collection consisted of high-waisted shorts, flared trousers, floral long skirts, knitted short and knee-length jumpers, as well as embroidered jacket and top ensembles in vibrant colours with intricate detail. The finale saw Karl Lagerfeld walk down with a model and his godson, Hudson. Chanel showcased a fresh, fun pre-collection on their tour.
