24 Feb New York Fashion Week Fall/ Winter 2015
New York Fashion week arrived last week with a bang! The runway truly became the canvas to the designers art, displaying their new collections for Fall 2015.
Fur made a reappearance in many shapes and forms. Whether it was an oversized white fur coat by The Blonds, a fur stole upon the handbag in Marc Jacobs, a striped fur coat from Rodarte or upon the collar of a coat in Michael Kors; fur was is definitely back for the Fall.
The 70’s manifested their way back into the twenty first century runway once again. Whether it was in the form of the flared or the ankle flashing teaser trousers, they were there. I guess once the Autumn arrives it will be finally time to pack away your skinny jeans. Anna Sui really embraced the feminine figure in her collection, yet giving it the laid back 70’s vibes, enhanced with colourful patterns in multiple variations.
Coats, coats and yes, more coats! Calvin Klein gave us lacquered jackets in colours such as a dark cherry red, a peachy swingy coat by Narciso Rodriguez, topstitching and big white buttons seen in Edun or psychedelic stripes on a raincoat by Jeremy Scott.
Layering is key. From Milly having their models wear oversized wooly sweaters, with harem trousers, gloves and a sleeveless coat, to Rag & Bone with sport’s jackets equipped with polo necks and cardigans and to Diesel Black Gold having boxy outwear with dark polo necks underneath.
The first leg is over, but we have three cities to still explore and for them to reveal their secret new weapons, their collections. – I
